An EnviroNord scholarship for Vilmantas Prėskienis! Congrats!

Congratulations to Vilmantas Prėskienis, PhD student at INRS and member of Geocryolab, who has been awarded the EnviroNorth Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship for the second year in a row. This fellowship helps to support his interdisciplinary research on processes and environmental conditions that affect degradation of organic matter in lakes and ponds in continuous permafrost regions.  The research and doctoral studies, supervised by Isabelle Laurion (INRS) and Daniel Fortier , combine methods and knowledge of geomorphology, biogeochemistry, limnology and microbial ecology. Such combination of disciplines and the relation to northern environments (study is based on fieldworks on Bylot Island , Nunavut) must have led to successful application for the fellowship, and, hopefully, will lead to comprehensive results.
